FRONT CRAWL SWIMMING COURSES

Weekly sessions lasting 8-10 weeks offering tuition / coaching in Front crawl only.

I originally set these courses up as a result of having discovered that so many adults would love to try a triathlon, but think they are unable to because they can't swim front crawl. Of course a triathlon swim can be completed entirely on breast-stroke, though ideally front crawl is the preferred stroke as once mastered it is quicker, more economical, and less demanding on the legs.

Beginners level - for those who cannot swim any front crawl or very little

A half hour lesson in a very small group. The sessions will concentrate on buoyancy, streamlining, breathing and basic technique. Pupils will receive ongoing feedback from their teacher, ideas for their own practices, and a report at the end of each course. Results from the courses we have run so far have been very encouraging with swimmers improving at a good rate and continuing through to the improver group.

Improvers 1 - For those who can do at least 50m front crawl with basic technique, but need more encouragement and guidance to progress. For novice triathletes we aim to get all pupils swimming 400m confidently by the end of an 8 week course.

A one hour session initially concentrating on stroke technique, then as the course progresses introducing sessions incorporating strength, endurance and pace work. Pupils have an initial stroke analysis and another at the end of the course. Advice on drills, and session plans to work at in between lessons are given as is plenty of individual feedback.

Improvers 2 - Next step up from Improvers 1, the sessions will take on more of a coached session format, increasing distance covered, working off the clock, pushing swimmers a step further and introducing more tri specific practices.

Training Lane - Swimmers will be given session plans to work at on their own. Ideal for swimmers who don't always need a coach continually overseeing them, but require some direction.
